ANVIL CHORUS To Perform At Resurrection Of San Francisco's 'Terminator'

June 20, 2009

Influential '80s progressive NWOSFHM (New Wave of San Francisco Heavy Metal) band ANVIL CHORUS has been confirmed to perform at the resurrection of Terminator, once San Francisco's "rockingest" weekly dance club., on Friday, July 17.

From 1990 to 1994, Terminator packed up to 1,000 people every Friday night and often had headlining acts like MOTÖRHEAD, TESTAMENT, JETBOY, and others performing. Eventually, the club closed, mainly due to losing the unique space (three levels of fun, with lots of private rooms). After a few revivals in the 1990s, the club faded out. However, the memories (though bleary) of the sheer scale of fun and debauchery remained emblazoned on the collective consciousness of San Francisco. So, after more than a decade since the last Terminator, it's BACK!

ANVIL CHORUS recently inked a deal with Rockadrome Records for the release of the group's new album, tentatively due later this year. The 12 tracks are all re-recorded, new versions of the popular cassette demo songs that have been widely traded in the worldwide metal underground for the past 25 years. These cuts have been updated and have recieved quality production. The sessions were produced by guitarist Thaen Rasmussen and vocalist/bassist Aaron Zimpel along with guitarist Doug Piercy, (now-former) drummer Joe Bennett and keyboardist Phil Bennet.

Drummer Joe Bennett last year left ANVIL CHORUS and was replaced by Steve Kilgore. According to the band, "Steve is the perfect guy for the job having played for years with Aaron [Zimpel; vocals, bass] in RELEASE and with Thaen [Rasmussen; guitar] in several other projects. He has been a loooongtime friend of band." Also newly added to the lineup is guitarist Carlos Hernandez, who "has been a part of the AC family since the early '80s," according to the group. "He did two of the recent reunion shows and features on the album as well. Doug Piercy will also still feature on the album, but will not serve as permanent guitarist."

ANVIL CHORUS' forthcoming album will feature cover artwork by Mark DeVito, who has previously worked on MOTÖRHEAD's "Motörizer".
